• Remember that we are business owners. We work hard every day, just like you do.

• Be realistic about your personality type. Partner with someone who will mesh well with your personality and work style.

• Start small in regards to the first few tasks you turn over to your Virtual Assistant; don't turn over everything at once on the first day of work. Get to know her work style, personality and reporting procedures, and ensure she is a good fit for you and your business before you hand over the big stuff.

• Be realistic about your budget and what you can afford. If you have a smaller budget to work with start out with the most important tasks first.

Be sure to ask yourself the following prior to deciding on a Virtual Assistant:

'Do I like this person?'

'Can I trust this person?'
